Training

I have received extensive training over nearly 20 years, and I maintain up-to-date knowledge of recent guidelines and regulatory documents through attendance of workshops and conferences. This was confirmed by a recent audit of my business by a contract research organisation for which I am a preferred supplier.

European Medical Writers Association logo I have accreditation from the European Medical Writers Association (EMWA). I regularly attend the highly acclaimed EMWA conferences and workshops for therapeutic area knowledge as well as document training.

The Institute of Clinical Research Logo I am also a member of the Institute of Clinical Research, the UK’s premier organisation for clinical research, which provides up-to-date information on all aspects of clinical research and the latest regulations for the industry.

Previous Job Experience

I have been working as a professional freelance medical writer since 2001, and I formed NLG Medical Writing Limited in 2003.

Prior to becoming freelance, I held a managerial medical writing position in a contract research organisation, and I have also held a senior medical writing position in a major international pharmaceutical company. As a manager, I recruited and trained a number of very successful medical writers, as well as taking a ‘hands on’ role in writing and editing documents myself. My early job experience, working on animal and human health journals, and later as a medical information officer, provided a good grounding in a number of skills that I use today for medical writing, editing, reviewing and QC checking.

Education

I have a first class honours degree in Zoology from Queen Mary College, University of London.
